The dream of an international tennis tournament in Miami began in the 1960s, when top tennis players such as Jack Kramer, Frank Sedgman, Pancho Gonzalez, Pancho Segura and Butch Buchholz toured the country in a station wagon, playing tennis in darkened arenas and fairgrounds. It was before the days of Open tennis, and they travelled with a portable canvas court and plenty of hopes. Buchholz - an original member of the "Handsome Eight" (the first recognized pros of Lamar Hunt's World Championship Tennis Circuit introduced in 1968) - competed until he was forced to retire from tennis in 1970 with chronic tennis elbow.

This year, The Miami Open is set from March 21 to April 3, 2016. The event will take place at the Crandon Park Tennis Center in Key Biscayne, Florida. All the big names of the tennis world including the likes of Serena Williams, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic will make their presence felt and will challenge for the title. However, it won’t cost a fan big money to watch their tennis stars since the ticket prices are quite affordable.

Miami Open is one of the very few tournaments outside the four Grand Slams where all the top men’s and women’s players turn up to participate. Many experts consider it as one of the most important tournaments of the calendar year, outside the four slams. This year, it has been made easier for the fans to watch their stars in action, live. The ticket prices have been made remarkably affordable, especially on weekdays. They start from $7 per adult for the 400-level section of the stadium. Click HERE to get the tickets.
