It’s only natural that Miami, a place with summer all year around, would be the ideal choice for the swimsuit industry’s biggest event of the year. All the major labels come out to play and young up-and-coming designers vie for a spot to get their suits into the eyes of the fashion elite. Nearly fifty designers show off their latest and greatest in the Mercedes-Benz tents alone. Across the city dozens of designers participate in satellite events that are organized by independent organizations. Some of the biggest names in fashion show their swim collections during Swim Week. One year, Chanel put together a crew of synchronized swimmers and Chloe has started regularly showing on a runway atop the pool of the hyper-exclusive Soho Beach House. Like any fashion event, it’s just as much about the parties and sponsorships, the red carpet and the street style as it is the main event. Miami Beach’s club, venues and hip eateries are packed with the jet-set crew of models, editors, photographers, writers and designers. It’s late July and that means it’s hot, hot, hot in Miami. While it’s all about the clothes at any fashion show, this is probably the fashion event of…

The dream of an international tennis tournament in Miami began in the 1960s, when top tennis players such as Jack Kramer, Frank Sedgman, Pancho Gonzalez, Pancho Segura and Butch Buchholz toured the country in a station wagon, playing tennis in darkened arenas and fairgrounds. It was before the days of Open tennis, and they travelled with a portable canvas court and plenty of hopes. Buchholz - an original member of the "Handsome Eight" (the first recognized pros of Lamar Hunt's World Championship Tennis Circuit introduced in 1968) - competed until he was forced to retire from tennis in 1970 with chronic tennis elbow.   This year, The Miami Open is set from March 21 to April 3, 2016. The event will take place at the Crandon Park Tennis Center in Key Biscayne, Florida. All the big names of the tennis world including the likes of Serena Williams, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic will make their presence felt and will challenge for the title. However, it won’t cost a fan big money to watch their tennis stars since the ticket prices are quite affordable.   Miami Open is one of the very few tournaments outside the four Grand Slams where all…
