MIAMI, Sept. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Rap superstar Rick Ross’ latest album, God Forgives and I Don’t, has gone certified Gold status selling over 500,000 copies and the Miami native chose South Beach’s newest hot-spot, Bamboo Miami Beach, to celebrate his latest accomplishment. Since its opening in the spring of 2012, Bamboo Miami Beach (formerly The Paris Theatre) has turned into one of Miami’s most elite clubs and a regular hangout for celebrities on Sunday nights, so it’s no wonder why Ross and label-mate Meek Mill partied it up until the wee hours of the Monday morning. Want to see what it feels like to be walking on the moon without leaving Earth? You can do it when you take part in the new Sea Trek Reef Encounter at the Miami Seaquarium. The helmet-diving experience gives guests a chance to become one with the park’s 300,000-gallon reef aquarium, while moving in ethereal slow motion in a near zero-gravity diving system. Guests are submerged in a surreal underwater paradise with colorful tropical fish, large groupers, cobia, stingrays, lobsters and moray eels. The program is called Sea Trekking and can be experienced by non-divers ages 10 and above with no certification or swimming skills necessary. Seaquarium officials insist if you can walk and breathe, you can Sea Trek. Unlike deep-sea diving, a participant’s entire head stays dry throughout the experience. Sea Trekkers can dip as deep as 15 feet under the surface. The Sea Trek Reef Encounter costs $99 plus tax, which includes same-day admission to the park. A friend of mine once asked me what kind of fitness program would work for his older parents. When I explained that I could design an exercise plan to suit anyone at any age, he told me that he thought his parents, in their mid-to-late 60s, would be resistant to any kind of exercise, but he still wanted them to get some activity in their everyday life. My friend, John, was a bit worried that his mother and father were becoming a little too sedentary. He wanted to make sure they still had energy, muscle strength and bone density to carry them through an active retirement. That’s an important thing to remember – as we age, we naturally lose muscle and bone density. It takes work to keep our body in shape to enjoy our twilight years. It’s not necessarily the same work we need when we’re in our 20s looking for great six-pack abs or when we’re in our 30s aiming to run our first marathon. It takes a different approach as we age to keep our body and mind active to do what we want them to do. So back to my advice for John: I told him…

There's something strangely romantic about the idea of sleeping in an igloo. Yes, even though it's bound to be a trifle nippy, the thought of curling up for the night in an ice hotel has most of us hooked. I was lucky enough to visit Montreal's brand-new Snow Village and slept soundly in an icy room with snow on the floor and flowers frozen into the walls. Most ice hotels tend to close around the end of March/April, so take a look at these six beauties and start planning a super-cool stay now. Montreal Launched this year, this new kid on the icy block is a little different from most other ice hotels as it's the only place in North America to get your urban igloo cool on. The Montreal Snow village is in the heart of the city in Jean Drapeau park, just a few minutes brisk walk away from the metro. Check out the hockey-themed room with its ice statue of a player at the end of the bed, and stadium seats.   Source:  Yahoo Travel

If the depleted bodies of ING Miami Marathon finishers haven't resorted to feeding on their eye muscles for fuel reserves during the 26.2 miles (or 13.1 for the half) of the race, they'll be greeted with an exciting sight at the finish line. The medal for this year's tenth anniversary race on January 29th features a weighty and bold number "10" backed by the Miami skyline, and strung up with a ribbon designed by celebrity pop artist Stephen Gamson.Among other high profile projects, Gamson has been a featured artist at Art Basel, where he created a design that adorned a Lamborghini in 2010; his work has appeared at the Cannes Film Festival; and he's been commissioned by Cafe Bustelo, Prince Albert the II, the Sony Ericcson Open, and the City of Miami. This year, the runner count is expected to exceed 25,000 for the first time. Many participants are collectors of Miami's marathon medals, which over the years have included 3-D palm trees and even a one carat diamond. This year's celebratory medal weighs a massive 8.1 ounces, about six times the bulk of the first Miami Marathon's measly 1.3 ounce medal.ING Marathon co-founder Frankie Ruiz came to Gamson after seeing…
Near-tragedy and heroism have become synonymous with EDM-theme cruises, both around Biscayne Bay and abroad. On Saturday morning, the MSC Poesia ran aground in the Bahamas and sent beat freaks aboard the Holy Ship! cruise into panic mode as death seemingly knocked on their portholes. In 2010, Biscayne Lady captain James Cho was praised for his heroic efforts after the ex-Navy man saved a parakeet from dying during a WMC cruise. What is it about electro music that triggers these crazy scenarios? We don't know. All we can hope for is a safe WMC aboard this year's EDM cruises.aboard Biscayne Lady. $100. Reboot, Robert Dietz, Michel Cleis, Maayan Nidam, and a "special guest" will drop heavy-ass beats aboard the Lady while pookie heads and European club types fist-pump the afternoon away 'round Biscayne Bay.Mystery Sounds presents Tytanium Sessions Yacht Party. Oh, Christmas! It's that feel-good time of year that's filled with good friends, close family, pretty lights, big trees, strong egg nog, huge yule logs, nice carols, sweet hymns, odes to Jesus, and all kinds of "ho, ho, ho"-ing from a bearded fat guy who's addicted to selfless acts of charity.Of course, most people are kind, well-adjusted individuals who like to spend the season wearing silly sweaters, watching sentimental movies, chitchatting with loved ones, and stuffing their faces full of delicious food. But we at New Times are professional party people. And true pros don't take fucking holidays. So if you wanna find us between December 22 and 26, we'll be wandering around half-naked, getting wasted, and hitting the pit at these five Christmas ragers.Sketchy Holiday Party. Thursday, December 22, 8 p.m., Lester's, 2519 NW Second Ave., Miami; 305-456-1784; lestersmiami.com. Admission is free. Ages 18 and up. This cheery indie scene get-together, hosted by Beached Miami and Sketchy Miami, promises "live art, music, seasonal beer/wine, and food" — not to mention a raffle, collectible postcards, and "slices of Joey's Santa-worthy pizza."Probably, though, there won't be a pit at this party. Well, unless you mean a swirling mosh of sweaty sketchers fiendishly…

"I always used to think I'd go up onstage and say, 'Boy, I hope you like us tonight. We're going to try to do a great show for you,'" shock rocker Alice Cooper says in a faux-sweet tone. "But you have to just grab the audience by the throat and say, 'You're mine for two hours. So shut up and stand up.'"With that kind of hard-hitting alpha-male philosophy, it's no wonder Cooper is a legend: If you dare doubt him, his onstage guillotine awaits. But luckily, he has the talent to back up his bravado, as he has proven with more than four decades of aggressive hard-rock hits such as "School's Out," "Eighteen," and "Poison."Cooper's lifelong dedication to depravity was recognized this past March, when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There he reunited with members of the Alice Cooper Band's original lineup, including guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway, and drummer Neal Smith.Feeding off the excitement of a banner year, Cooper released his 26th studio album, Welcome 2 My Nightmare, in September. The disc, whose name alludes to Cooper's classic 1975 solo debut, Welcome to My Nightmare, embodies everything that makes him great, including…
