Miami Spice Month is August 1st to September 30th, 2014. One of the most anticipated summer events on the foodie calendar, Miami Spice Restaurant Month is actually a two month series of discount dining opportunities throughout South Florida featuring set 3-course menus for lunch and dinner at the city’s leading dining destinations. While the summer heat often drives locals indoors in search of shade and air conditioning, intrepid diners venture out more frequently in August and September discovering new restaurants (and re-visiting their favorite haunts), hoping to take advantage of taste tempting appetizers, well-crafted entrees and decadent desserts.Sponsored by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, Miami Spice was originally designed to boost sluggish food sales during the hot and humid “Summertime Blues” season. Participating restaurants provide set menus for lunch ($23) and dinner ($39). Note that some locations only offer the menus on weekdays or restrict participation to lunch or dinner so it is best to contact the restaurant directly to make sure the offer is available when you plan to visit.   Miami Spice event will be having a kick off party, July 31st at Hyatt Regency, to purchase the ticket please click HERE. My father’s lucky number was 13 but I only knew this the day he died, His reason for choosing 13 was very simple; it was the number of his landing craft on D-Day. He thought it was lucky because the chieftain tank that he was traveling with across the channel, broke loose in choppy seas. They had to turn back to have it tied down. This meant he was not part of the first wave to land and that probably saved his life. Strangely he died on January 13, 2013, I guess he thought it was a good day..   Join the Dean of Trinity Cathedral and Her Majesty's British Consul General for Florida who are hosting a service of remembrance to commemorate the Normandy Landings, D-Day.  This is to mark the sacrifice made 70 years ago by British and American forces and is the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings

Happy Womens Day to all the wonderful women in the world. We don't always understand you, but we love you and certainly can't live without you!  International Women's Day (IWD), also called International Working Women's Day, is marked on March 8 every year.[2] In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political, and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, including Russia. In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. In other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. This is a day which some people celebrate by wearing purple ribbons.
